As regular readers of this blog are aware, I have been covering the vicious campaign of ongoing harassment against Conservative Bloggers which attempts to silence them, and I have also focused on the nasty attacks directed at The Lonely Conservative and myself. Most people have been appropriately outraged when they’ve learned of the criminal harassment, identity theft, and thuggery, but there is one so called “Conservative Blogger” who has expressed sheer delight over these attacks – and this is someone I tried to warn you all about before because he has an over a decade-long history of saying and doing horrible things to bloggers – on both the right and the left, but mostly to people on the right, and he is doing it again.
This person is apparently clinically mentally ill, so despite the fact that his antics are fully deserving of not just condemnation but also total mockery, it might be in poor taste to make fun of him so this post is just a reminder of what exactly we’re dealing with that is still lurking in the Dextrosphere and a warning to be on the lookout for him, and to stay away as far from him as you can – regardless of what new aliases he surfaces with next.
Before I became aware of his long and sordid history, I felt sorry for him, and, as it turns out, that is actually how he finds his “marks”; he targets people who are unaware of his history or do not recognize him in whatever alias he is currently using and then the same things happens that always happen with this guy:
I figured I would visit his blog and link to some of his posts from my own, so that he could benefit from some of the eyeballs that find their way to my place, but when I went there, I saw nothing I’d want to promote from my place, as his blog was filled with a bunch of bitterness and vitriol for other bloggers and he appeared to be the type of person who blames the whole world for whatever his life is lacking. Everything that did not go his way was somebody else’s fault.
Among other odd things, I saw a post complaining that Erick Erickson of RedState did not accept his submission for Erick’s “I am the 53%” project which was created to represent the 53% of Americans who pay income taxes to counter the meme of the #occupy squatters’ “I am the 99%” which is supposed to be about Americans who do not comprise the “1%” of the super-rich in this country. It is understandable why the submission wasn’t accepted, because the site shows letters from the “53%” who are people that work for a living and pay taxes, which the person whose letter was rejected does not – he has been unemployed and living in his mom’s basement for many years and pays no income taxes whatsoever.
I realized that I could not help this person and I moved on to other things. The next day, I saw him post something horrible in the comments section of a post at The Other McCain which prompted me to remove that person from my blogroll and avoid him as much as possible. Stacy was having a rough time, and while most of us offered words of comfort and support, one person decided to use Stacy’s misery as a chance to kick the man while he was down in a fit of epic douchebaggery. Here is the nasty comment, along with the responses from me and other friends of Stacy to such a vicious unprovoked attack (and where my friend Bob Belvedere was kind enough to let me know that this sort of nastiness was nothing new from said person):
After that, I removed “Patrick” from my blogroll and pretty much forgot about him, and he apparently did shut down his blog, only to resurface later – which I would learn is a serial thing with him wherein he has a blog, causes a lot of trouble, wonders why nobody likes him, blames everybody for what he did, closes the blog, opens a new one, attacks people, blames everybody for what he did, wonders why nobody reads or links to him, closes the blog and then opens a new one again. Lather. Rinse. Repeat. He also resurfaces with different usernames that are typically variations on whatever names he has used before, as you will see.
So I realized that there was something wrong with the guy and I honestly didn’t much think about him after that, although I became aware that he opened a new blog, and he also made a few comments to the A-C page that I run at facebook including one in which he threatened other fans of the page (I deleted the comment as soon as I saw it because I have already had problems with people trying to get the page shut down). I still thought it best to avoid him as much as possible and try not provoke him due to his unhinged nature.
On Christmas Day, my friend Karen, who runs The Lonely Conservative blog, was seriously injured in a bad fall. While she was suffering and in pain, someone offered to “help” her with the blog and Karen accepted, allowing this person to contribute to her blog while she began what would become a long road to recovery. I initially was happy to see that she was getting some assistance, until I realized who exactly it was “helping” her. The “help” came from “Pat in Michigan” who is the same person that had attacked Stacy McCain. I had a bad feeling, but hoped that he had changed. It became quickly apparent that he had not, and he used Karen’s blog to attack conservatives, other bloggers, and commenters to TLC, and to ask people to give him money. Karen quickly realized that “Pat” was not appropriate for The Lonely Conservative and declined any further “help” from him.
Then, last week, “Patrick” repeatedly attacked my friend, Robert Stacy McCain, and the attacks were picked up by other bloggers and that caused more attacks against Stacy from elsewhere, turning into a whole big mess, but Stacy was still very kind towards “Patrick” and generously linked to him more than a few times which resulted in “Patrick” getting what was probably the best traffic he’s ever had, and yet, he continued to attack Stacy. While this was all happening, I had been busy setting up everything I needed here at my new website so that I could finally delete the old Blogger hosted blog including setting up a new blogroll here. “Patrick” posted in my comments section asking to be added to my blogroll, while at the same time continuing to attack Stacy but saying that he wanted nothing to do with Stacy or anyone who is a friend of Stacy’s. So I declined, as politely as possible, although I was aware that even being gentle might trigger a fit of screaming from the perpetually angry “Patrick”. Here is what I said:
I don’t want to be mean, Patrick, but you should know that Stacy McCain is my friend and I am HIS friend. I did not like the way you trash talked about him or some of the nasty things you have said in his comments section in the past. I have also seen you viciously attack other friends of mine as well. I don’t have anything against you, you have always been nice to me personally, but I have also seen the way you attacked commenters at The Lonely Conservative when she let you guest blog there. I don’t know about whatever beef it is you have with my friends and I don’t much care, but if I want to read hit pieces, insults, and nasty curses hurled against my colleagues, well there’s the MSM and their lefty bloggers I could be reading, and I don’t bother with THOSE because they sicken me.
When the day comes that I say something you do not agree with, is that the sort of thing I can look forward to also? No offense, but you have a tendency to go very unhinged very easily and I have to admit that I have reservations about adding you back into the blogroll.
Every few days you say you’re getting out of the blog business anyway.
I hope this doesn’t trigger something ugly from you, but if it does, be aware that I have rules here for that sort of thing and I am also not nearly as polite as some of my other friends when I am attacked.
EDITED TO ADD: I see you are still griping about Stay and say you don’t want anything to do with him (while still posting to his comments section) or his friends. Well I AM STACY’S FRIEND, so you really don’t want to be associated with the likes of me anyway.
Later that day, a friend sent me an email with a link to a 2007 post at Ace of Spades, and I began to understand just how messed up “Patrick” truly is. I then did some more research and was pretty creeped out by else what I found.
But wait, there’s more! He has also attacked Pamela Geller in the comments section of Atlas Shrugs, has attacked other Jewish bloggers and railed against non-Jewish bloggers as “Jew ass-kissers”. Additionally, he published Michelle Malkin’s home address, her private phone number, and an aerial view of her house.
He has said that murdered children deserved being shot to death. He also has made death threats to other bloggers. Chuck, Charles Patrick Adkins, Paleo Pat, Old Right Blogger, DetroitRight, and k8cpa are some of the monikers he has used, I do not doubt that there are more. Some of the blogs he has had include “the Populist”, “Political Byline”, and the current one, “Thoughts and Rantings” He has been attacking people and then shutting down his blogs when he gets called out and then resurfacing in new ones under different variations of his name for nearly a decade, all the while unemployed and living in his mom’s basement. Here are some more links so you can be well informed, lest you also be fooled the next time he resurfaces and pretends to be normal before inevitably devolving into his true self: MUCH MORE HERE
Be sure to read the entire post about the creep and also check out all the links there to give you a clearer picture of just how deranged he truly is. The reason why I am writing this new post about him is because, as is his pattern, he is up to his old tricks again. Like pretty much everybody else, I had largely forgotten about him – until a few days ago when he turned up in the comments section of a post at The Lonely Conservative to express his joy over the harassment that she and I have been subjected to for the past several months. He gave himself away with his words and then when it became obvious to him that we’d recognized him, he had a meltdown on Twitter, where he had been again cozying up to unsuspecting bloggers and other Conservatives under a new alias. The meltdown also carried over to his “professional” Twitter account, which he uses to promote an internet hosting re-seller service.
Stevie J. West is a Conservative Blogger and a popular Twitter user, and she is one of the newer people who has had to learn the hard way that the guy is bad news. Stevie wanted to set up a new blog and was looking for a place to do it, when “@justehblogger” (AKA Chuck, Charles Patrick Adkins, Paleo Pat, Old Right Blogger, DetroitRight, Political Byline, Thoughts and Rantings, BorninSouthwest1972, and k8cpa, along with whatever the hell other aliases he may have used or be using now) offered to “help” her by letting her pay him to use the space that offers as a web hosting re-seller. Stevie was unaware of his history and signed up as his first, and only, customer, but a few days later some concerned friends clued her in to just who exactly she was doing business with, and she moved to another host. This of course triggered more of a meltdown on Twitter from “Patrick”, which included posting a link to a new video of himself ranting incoherently from his parents’ basement, where he admits to having accessed the back end tech stuff of her new site and placing things on her blog without her knowledge or consent, and he says some bizarre imaginary stuff about The Lonely Conservative and me, all the while swinging the camera that is focused on his face in a manner that may make you feel seasick if you watch it.
Blogger tip: if you are looking for a place to host your website, it is a good idea to do a little research to find an established hosting service that has a good reputation rather than a hosting re-seller who does not have any kind of track record of reliability or recommendations from satisfied customers. At The Impolite Canadian, Max explains some of the things that can happen when a person has given full control of their website over to an unscrupulous host re-seller, and an article at theserve has more information about the risks:
This is incredibly cheap and seems to good an opportunity to miss right? Usually when things are too good to be true there is a catch. In this case the catch is usually that to offer hosting at this price the hosting company is a reseller for a bigger hostingcompany.
When everything is operating as it should this can be great as you have managed to cut your operating costs. But what about when it goes wrong?
As a reseller you only have limited access to the systems that are hosting your customers websites. In the event that something does go wrong a reseller is reliant upon their hosting provider to get information about what the issue is. Buy the time you get an answer from your reseller the information is 2nd hand and you can’t be sure its reliable.
The advantage of being a customer of a dedicated hosting provider is that you will be able to get answers a lot quicker than if you are going through a middle man.
Another reason to avoid resellers is the fact that anybody can setup a reseller account and act as a hosting company to make a profit. This means people without the skills and expertise can effecitviely be completley in control of your business and if you are heavily reliant upon your web presence this can spell disaster! RTWT
Another thing you need to be aware of is that you may be effectively giving “ownership” of your website to somebody else and you will have little protection should things go sideways. RedHead Writing explains why this can be a problem:
Ownership: This is particularly important if you purchase your hosting services through an agency or reseller. YOu have to understand who “owns” your hosting account. Even if it’s YOUR site, your reseller or agency that’s kindly hosting your site might “own” the hosting account. That means you don’t get C-panel access. It means you can’t really even call customer support without that owner on the line. This is bullshit — you should always have 100% access and control to your website and back-end site management. And it’s not the host’s fault — it’s yours for not asking and knowing this is important. RTWT for more information and great advice!
An additional potential problem with having your site hosted by a such an entity, something which “Patrick” admits to having done with Stevie’s site, is that an unscrupulous host can also manipulate or add content to your site against your wishes and without you knowing about it until after the fact. Something like that could be be extremely damaging.

People have advised me that it might be best to ignore “Patrick”, because he is mentally ill and allegedly “harmless”, but I contend that although he has not become violent (he has, however often made public threats of violence towards bloggers and has even threatened to kill people), he has already caused plenty of damage and aggravation to innocent people and also that bad things tend to happen when lunatics like this are allowed to “fly under the radar” where they can more easily find new marks for his special brand of fuckery because future targets are either unaware of his history or do not recognize him in whatever new incarnation he resurfaces with. As I have stated before, this is a pattern with him, and like a broken record, it will continue to repeat, so it is in the public interest that people are amply warned – as often as becomes necessary.
Last month, Bob Belvedere at The Camp Of The Saints noticed that some in the Blogging community who were still unaware of “Patrick” and his shenanigans were getting pingbacks from and linking to “Patrick” and Bob issued a new warning reminding people about “Patrick”. Here are some links to more posts from bloggers who tried to warn people about “Patrick” earlier this year: iOwnTheWorld, American Power, doubleplusundead, 1389 Blog – Counterjihad! , The Camp Of The Saints, The Lonely Conservative, The Adventures of Captain Whitebread, Invincible Armor, Nice Deb, The Blogmocracy, Chicago News Bench, Kim’s Blog, The Daily Pundit, Capitalist Preservation, That Mr. G Guy’s Blog, The Independent Realist, My Daily Kona, Conservative Hideout, Pirate’s Cove, and Wake up America, but despite the massive exposure, “Patrick” continues to find unsuspecting bloggers, and now Twitter users as well, to trick. Don’t be fooled!
Here is the LinkedIn Profile for “Patrick”, he often posts pictures of himself regardless of what alias he uses, so it may be helpful to in the future to remember this face:
Someone at the DetroitHotFudge.com message board posted what are apparently much older pictures of “Patrick”, perhaps taken before he went insane? Here’s a what a user named Doctor Detroit had to say about the pictures that you can see HERE and HERE:
You can almost see the two paths stretching out before this young Chuck. Hard work, determination and success – or parents’ basement with Right-Guard round steak.
Here are links to some older blog posts exposing the rotten things that “Patrick” has done to Bloggers over the years: The Other McCain, At The Point Of A Gun, Riehl World View, doubleplusundead (and again, and again), The Dread Pundit, FreeSpeech.com, Michelle Malkin, Patterico’s Pontifications, American Digest, and Ace of Spades, and yet, “Patrick” has been able to continue his cycle of finding people who don’t yet know about him or don’t make the connection that his new persona is the same old jackass, and the same things explained above happen all over again. I don’t suspect it will ever stop, but forewarned is forearmed, and now you have been warned – again. Please be careful out there.
